The Wide Wide World

by Susan Warner

This was the first book by an American author to sell one million copies, and I can see why. Warner’s way of writing makes you fall instantly in love with Ellen Montgomery. Through all the hardships she endures, she learns to become humble, cheerful, loving and most of all lean on her Heavenly Father for strength to reject wrongdoing. As she walks through many a trial and heartbreak she becomes closer and nearer to the One who loved her first.
