When Jordan was making my birthday dress she first made a mock-up of it out of this beautiful material. She finished it up just in time for Easter. I love it!

After the cave we had some time for lunch before our last rehearsal. Jordan and I got to enjoy this meal all to ourselves with some yummy gluten free Mexican soups!

We did a lot of sitting around at this one as they tried to figure out sound, order, lights, project, etc.,. Once again we were entertained by the talented young magician who always had a crowd formed around him…
Let’s just say he got a lot of practice over the weekend!
After the rehearsal Jacob, Jordan and I took our last chance to visit the Alamo.
Not as big as I had originally thought, but not too shockingly small.
We then rushed back to the hotel to make sure we were ready for the fashion show!
All ran smoothly, but the excitement built as the night went on as we all waited to hear who had won!
And the winner is… Jordan Newhouse with fifth place and the top Mohair award!
After everything was over the party people went to the pool for a “party”. Okay. They sat in the pool and shivered, I just put my legs in. It was still fun đ
Then we hung out and had pizza.
My legs hurt so bad. I probably should have relaxed and sat down in the afternoon instead of running off to the Alamo!
Although it was a lot of fun I had a really hard time knowing that it was our last day and that we would all be saying our goodbyes soon. That’s why we came up with a plan! The Utah people were heading to the airport at 4am so we thought we would go with them and hang out a little longer instead of catching a taxi just a few hours later. It was a late night of packing giving us only 2 1/2-3 hours of sleep; Tia didn’t even go to sleep!
After arriving at the airport we were forced to say our goodbyes since they were flying through a different airline.
We checked in and lined up for security surprised to find they were in line just in front of us! Turns out their airlines terminal was under construction so they had the gate right next to ours! That meant we had just a little bit more time to hang…
Sure glad I grabbed that travel boggle last minute…

After they left I thanked God for the extra bit of time we got together. Only God could’ve orchestrated something like that!
Jordan and I still had four hours to kill until our flight would be leaving… so we did a photo shoot! Jordan is so easy to photograph!
But after that we just sat and I have to admit I cried, a lot. I’m such a people person that I made friends fast over the weekend, which made it harder to say goodbye. I was completely overwhelmed with all God had taught me; at a NATIONAL SEWING COMPETITION! My God sure is creative.
New Mexico?
Even after we landed we still had a long leg of our journey to complete. My dad had gotten sick so we had to take a shuttle back to Tucson. It was a long hard day, but thankfully smooth and safe. It was good to be back home!

Friday we got up at six so I could shower, eat a bit, do make-up and get dressed for judging! I wasn’t too nervous until the clock started ticking closer and closer to the time we had to be on “Hill Country” level. The morning went by so slowly as we waited for everyone to get judged. Every contestant had three minutes with the judges and then the had two minutes to talk about you before they sent in the next person. There were 30 contestants. Yes, two and half hours of just standing there, because if you sat down your garment would wrinkle! Thankfully one of the contestants was a magician so we were quite entertained!
When judging was finally over Jordan and I went with the Utah people to El Mercado to eat at Mi Tierra.
The people from Utah were excited about the mexican food while we on the other hand have it all the time đ
After eating we did some shopping… we only ended up with two scarves, but it was fun to look around!
We rode the (off-tracks) trolley home. At every stop or turn it felt like it was going to break! But we enjoyed the ride anyways…
We spent the rest of our after-noon hanging out on the roof by the pool along with Jake, Tia, and Claire.
Dinner was at Rainforest Cafe. Nothing gives you a bigger appetite then a mechanical gorilla beating it’s chest đ Sadly it was too dark to take any good pictures…
Then racing back to the hotel for the Fashion Show rehearsal.
Afterwards I went to the roof to hang out by the pool again. Lots of laughter and fun memories, including dancing the two step with Jordan (right before bed check!) to the loud Jazz music coming from the street and her room mate laughing at us.

The next morning I ran to Jordan’s room to see if she wanted to see the sun rise from the roof. She quickly got ready as well as one of her room mates. Sadly when we got to the top it was way to cloudy to see the sun.
It was still a beautiful view.
We had to eat breakfast quickly so we’d be ready to go caving by 8.

I want to start out by saying I was overwhelmed with all the blessings that came along with this trip. After seeing all the other garments I wondered why I had made it to Nationals. God sure did make it clear. So not wanting to keep these blessings to myself here is a very small glimpse compared to the very crazy fun, busy, stressful, sleepless, and awesome weekend I had in San Antonio Texas!
The Adventure started on Wednesday when we found out our Director was sick and unable to travel with us to San Antonio. I thought that sounded like a fun challenge since I love to travel. The only thing that made me nervous was arriving there with no one to greet us and having to get a taxi by ourselves! Although it was a change in plans God helped me understand His sovereignty.
Thursday morning Dad, Joshua, Jordan and I drove up to Phoenix since that was where our director lived and where we were going to fly out with her. When we got to the airport my mom called telling us we wouldn’t be needing to catch a taxi! She had mentioned to a relative on Facebook that she was sending us off alone to San Antonio. A cousin living there quickly offered to pick us up and drive us to the hotel. What relief that brought! After a safe and smooth flight we headed to the baggage claim where a woman we didn’t recognize asked if we were here for the Make it with Wool competition. Turned out she was a director that was sent to get us. Thankfully there was room in our cousins truck so she wouldn’t have to pay for a taxi back.

After arriving at the hotel we had to quickly get checked in since we were running a little late. After finding our rooms we went outside to walk a bit of the river walk, which was right outside – the river even came through the hotel lobby!
It was getting dark so the following picture isn’t that great, so you’ll have to believe me when I say it was beautiful.
We found a place to eat some dinner which we had brought from home. We savored one of the last home-cooked meals we would have that weekend. It was nice to just get to breathe and chat a little with my sister after our crazy day.
When we were done we headed back for a meeting. When the meeting was done we all played a ice breaker game, “Do you love your neighbor?” We all stood in a circle with one person in the middle being “it”. “It” would then ask someone, “Do you love your neighbor?” That person would then say, “Yes I love my neighbor (insert neighbor’s name) and (insert neighbor’s name), and I love all my neighbors who ______.” Then everyone who fell under that category (ie are wearing red) would all switch places, giving “it” a chance to find a spot leaving a new “it” in the middle. When I was asked if I loved my neighbor I answered that I did and that I also loved my neighbors who had chickens. A few other favorites were: I love my neighbors who don’t have Facebook, who has goats, and who loves to sew đ
After the game we meet our chaperone, the director from Utah, who replaced our director who didn’t come, as well as the contestants from Utah, Tia and Jacob. We were both getting tired and still had to iron our garments that hadn’t traveled very well đŠ
That’s when I finally met my roomies!
